What is the intestinal immune system?

The intestinal immune system, which also appears in "COVID-19 and natural immunity", protects us 24 hours a day.

How the intestinal immune system works

腸内

● The Peyer's patches, located between the intestinal villus, are typical of this organ. Here, a large number of lymphocytes (T cells, B cells) and macrophages, which are immune cells, are waiting to produce antibodies (IgA) to capture pathogens, in collaboration with lymphocytes working in the surrounding epithelial cells and natural immunity.

腸内IgA

● The process by which phagocytes, such as macrophages, dispose of trapped pathogens is the mechanism of acquired immunity.

The bacterial compositions are taken up by the Peyer's patches and stimulate the acquired immune system.
